When to rebuild versus patch a revenue dashboard

A practical decision guide for teams inheriting a subscription metrics view that no longer matches how they bill.

Collaborators reviewing whether to rebuild reporting materials

Patch when definitions are sound but a filter is missing, a currency conversion is wrong, or a new plan needs a row. Rebuild when two teams cannot agree what yesterday’s MRR was after an hour of investigation.

Another rebuild signal: the dashboard depends on a spreadsheet paste that only one person understands. That person will leave; the paste will not explain itself.

In Hong Kong we often see inherited views built for a single legal entity while the group now bills through two. Multi-entity restatement is usually a rebuild, not a patch.

Budget time for a handoff even after a rebuild. A beautiful view without owners becomes another abandoned tab within a quarter.
